B.N.&L. Button & Rivets

First time poster here. I am really enjoying the forum. So many wonderful finds and helpful folks.

Below are some photos of a button and some rivets found at a Southern California desert mine site used from roughly the 1890s to 1920s. The button says B.N.&L. L.A. with two stars. The rivets also say B.N.&L. I can't find anything on B.N.&L. on the net. Anyone have a clue what this might stand for? Sorry about the pic quality of the button. The desert sun can be a little too bright sometimes.

Thanks!

I have a hunch these are railroad related.

Re: B.N.&L. Button & Rivets

I found one reference to these buttons in Google books. In a book titled something like "The historical archeology of dam construction camps in Arizona" (1994) they site an unidentified overall button marked B. N. & L. LA. Apparently, they couldn't figure it out either... :dontknow:

But it tells us that it is from work clothing of the era.
