Hi everyone! I'm from Idaho thinking about heading south for a few weeks this winter to do a little nugget shooting. I've never been to Arizona. Has anyone got a place or two they would recommend that I look into going? My main concerns would be a place with a mild climate and of course maybe a chance of finding a nugget or two. Any general info would be great, thanks!

Go to the forum on nuggetshooter.com

:)

Sure!
Go, west or nw of Quartzsite
The farther out from Quartzite, the better the hunting/detecting :tongue3:
While out in that area, go, south of I-10, the farther south & west the better
Take along a USGS Topographic map and an Arizona OutBack (Website) Road map!
ALSO
Don't stray off the roads, :-\
Or
Try to cross any sandy washes unless you're an experienced 4x4'er
& !
Don't forget to Take the usual out back /off the road equipment along with you!

You can all ways try the triangle:

Prescott

Wickenburg

Carefree / Cave Creek

Just about any place within that geographical location is a good place to start looking for gold.....get a map do your home work, have the proper vehicle capable of venturing far off road......you'll have a blast....good luck hope that helps. ;D ;D ;D

ID Desertman:
How were our replies to your request for help ? ???
Did you get a general idea of the area(s) to go to
Do you need more exacting info ? :icon_scratch:
OR?

Hey,thats was good info.
But to be a liitle more help, are the lands of the Triangle, BLM areas?
How can I get Maps of the BLM areas so that I know which is private land and which is public BLM?.

"How Do you Know which is Private or BLM Land(s) " ?
They sell a "State land ownership" map for just that purpose
Go to your local map store!
There's one in Phoenix, Tucson, Mesa, etc!

OR!
To one of the Federal or State Departments,

ALSO!

"The Arizona Museum of Mines/Mining"
(On Washington Street, near the Capital Bldg)
They have MAPS!
Along with all kinds of books

They, Also have a Fantasic Display of Minerals etc on the main museum floor :tongue3:

Check the museum out!
It'll be a real worthwhile trip!

Wide World of Maps in Phoenix probably has the maps you need. You can get on Arizona Outbacks site and get some ideas from the guys there.

Some Books
Arizona's little Known Gold Placers - Ronald S. Wielgus
Arizona's Golden Secret - Ronald S. Wielgus
Where to Find Arizona's Placer Gold (maps & directions) - Delos Toole

Hystware has a program out that lists a ton of abandoned mines.

If you will/would buy: :D
A,
"Benchmark" (The Company Name) Atlas,
a very large (11" x 15 1/2") soft cover, Book of Topo maps for the State of Arizona
You'll find a section(pgs) in the "Atlas" showing Land Status/ownership for the state

ie: BLM or State or Private, etc

I have them, Both, "Delorme" AND! "Benchmark" Atlases, for any & all of the States that
Bugs & I, "Wander" around, in :tongue3:
...

PS You can buy these "Atlases" on/over the "Internet"
