A 1912 V Nickel, and some sort of token Ive never seen before. Maybe someone can help me on this token. I have looked all over on the internet and cannot find a horse shoe shaped token. On another post someone said it was notched out but after looking with a magnifying glass that is not the case. It has a smooth rim on the inside of the cut out as if it were molded or pressed out that way. I believe it is probably an early slot machine token since it has a number stamped on one side of it but i have never seen one shaped like this one and I've found a lot of tokens. Nice finds. The V nickel looks to be in great shape. Sorry can’t help with the token ID. Congrats

Nice V nickel and the token is really cool. What part of Az are you in? I winter in Apache Junction and have hit a number of old ghost towns.

A real nice v nickel. There is a piece missing from the "good for 5 cents token"

I’m on West side, Lake Pleasant Blvd

I found a token in my yard with the same Bow Tie on it with a number stamped on it. Never ID it. But mine is more solid than yours. That's kinda strange. I'll get a pic off my phone and post it. Nice V.Congrats :icon_thumright:

Nice finds, that Nickel is in great shape, best I`ve seen.

I wouldn't think it a token for any kind of machine because they've always been finicky about bent or misshapen coins. My guess it's trading token for a hostelry or a farrier. Every business used them during the depression because of the shortage of script.

I'm with "thrifty" on this, there is a piece missing. I have found tokens with a center hole, not drilled out but made that way. With the numbers on one side, it does make me think of a gaming or early slot type machine token. Of course a "V" nickel is always a good find.

love az you can find old mines shacks ghost towns and critters that came right out of a Stephen King movie
