'axe'idental find.

Just as I thought today was done and over with the rain comming in, I went back in for one more try at a diffrent area then I normally hunt, the area known to have people in the 1700s in it. Swung a few times no hit, rain comming down heavier, I decided to call it over with, I lay down the detector to do something I don't remember when it went off, thinking the batteries couldn't be lose I swung it around alittle, kept getting a more solid hit, so dug about 7 inches down and out comes what I belive to be a axe head. Not sure if old but its nice.

Will just about guarantee that one is old. The long slender blade portion pretty much tells the tale. Congrats.:icon_thumleft:

so roughly 1700-1600's? I was just hoping it was a battle axe or some extremely cool piece, but none the less a keeper, thanks guys.

I'm no expert and I'm not 100% sure, but if you'll look at these designs, it looks like it could possibly date to the 1600's. Nice find. I would give it a long bath in apple cider vinegar and put a handle on it and hang it in your man cave.

If that's the case, maybe I need to be done 40-50 times per hunt. I will have to give that a try.
