Looks to me that you have an old ax head and perhaps an iron bridle piece from a horse or mule?

Thats what I was thinking but never seen an axe like that found in sandstone hills was thinking for chipping rock? IDK

It's a type of side axe, usually a short handled axe for doing more of shaping wood, rather than felling trees and such. Other names associated with this type are shipmakers axe, carriage makers axe and more. It would be worth cleaning up and seeing about a makers mark, as these fell out of common usage when power tools came along (although, yes they are still made and even used today) and some are quite collectable.
