Awsome point! Knife blade?

Went out detecting and found this where I was digging. The one ear is missing I thought it was broke but upon closer inspection it appears to have been worked that way. My thought is it could have broke when he was making it or it could be a knife blade. What do you think. It's 2.5 inches long and thin.

I found this point in the genesee valley near Geneseo NY. Anyone know what this type is called and who and about how old it could be? I can take more pics if you need them
