Very cool nails. I've found a bunch of square head nails, but never anything like those.
Great post & pictures. Thanks for sharing.

I have to look for the pic's of the big nails. But how about the cutest little nail you ever saw? I kinda like nails, as long as their unique. They say that they actually used hand forged nails as currencey. They were worth thier weight in trade. You have some trading power there.

Makes me wonder about all the nails I found on the property, maybe the owner forged them in his blacksmith shop. I got nails big & little. Anyway, neat finds, Allsmith.

Relics are good and sometimes even better than old common date coins. Over the years I've dug lots of hand forged iron tools and to date my old nails have been the mass produced 19th century square nails. Hand forged nails are not easy to find in northern Michigan.

Recently a friend sent me a hand forged bronze ship spike he found on the east coast beach after a storm. They are cool finds for sure.

Great find.

thats is a cool nail country girl!!! looks familiar,, got any close up pics? is it brass or iron? was it found near water? might be from a boat... seen a show ,they were making boats, built the boat on a steel jig,so when they drove the nail in it hit the steel and bent ,locking it in place... cool find ;D ;D ;D

Awesome relic. Hand crafted is the "key." I think it is a great find.
