I don't know a date on this, so help me out but it's quite an old find. I found this in a middle of a soccer field. It was 5" deep. I've never seen one this large in my life. I know they make them out of stainless steel and all now. This one is pure cast iron. So it have to be old, and it's very heavy. Can anyone date this for the iron type?

The coin in the picture is a quarter, that's how big this thing is.

I have found a few, they are tractor spanners. Still use them today.

Middle of a soccer field? I could see that on a European soccer field, they take the game seriously over there! Cool find>

Not cast. Usually forged or drop forged. I have a few like it, my grandfathers neighbor gave them to him, he was a mechanic in the 20s&30s. Hard to date as they were made like that until the 50s. I'm not a expert just my 2 cents.
