Only went to two sales today (not too many sales on Thursdays) and pretty late, it was almost noon when I got to the first one. It was a good day though found some sterling coasters for $1 each and a sterling ashtray for $3 and some other silver utensils. About 80 grams of silver altogether and paid $7 total :)
I also got this little Danish 826/1000 silver spoon that might be from 1892! I don't know who the metal master is that made it but it has some really nice detail to it. Its heavy for its size weighs about 21 grams and has some sort of goose or winged animal design with a ridged bowl. It was a surprising little find since I live in Colorado and the spoon came from so far away. I love finding antique silver!

Some credit to this page as I know nothing about Danish silver and for teaching me it was Danish silver in the first place.

I'll PM you if/when I do! I would really hope to sell it to someone like you and not someone who wants to scrap it!

I'll tell you what, that is one cool spoon!

that spoon is awesome!, id be afraid to eat out of it, it looks mean lol

That spoon will not be bought by someone who plans to scrap it. Believe me. The price will go higher than that, much higher. Nice spoon.

By the way I think the spoon depicts a seahorse or perhaps even a lindworm.

Thanks for all the feedback! I should have joined this forum earlier it makes my unique finds feel that much more special :) I'm only 22 and none of my friends seem to understand even the basic concept of treasure haha.
Anyways... Diggumup it might be harder to tell from just the pics but if you check the midsection of the spoon there seems to be a representation of a feathered wing. This might rule out sea horse but lindworm I never thought of! The lindworm mythology came from the right time and place as this spoon making it even better :) I thought it was a weird looking goose with those dragon spines on its back. Maybe searching for lindworm will find me a similar spoon and hopefully the smith who made it :)
Heres a close up of the wing (EDIT:I HAVE SINCE LEARNED THAT MYTHOLOGICAL SEAHORSES HAVE BEEN PORTRAYED WITH FEATHERED WINGS, SEAHORSE TAKES THE LEAD AS TO MY GUESS OF WHAT IT IS) credit to diggumup

Probably a fruit spoon. Most likely a grapefruit spoon.

In mythology there is such a thing as a winged seahorse, so don't rule that out. https://www.google.com/search?q=win...voHwDw&sqi=2&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAQ&biw=1066&bih=646

I could not find it on Ebay...did you list it ?

I have not yet. I love learning the history of unknown finds like this one and there is just a bit more I would like to uncover before I can part with it happily. Ill post the link when I do. Sorry for being slow about it hope you guys understand.

No need for apologies. It is always good to doubt hearsay, personal research go a long way.
Just let us know if you find another example or track down anymore info. on it.

I asked some Danish silver experts if they recognized the hallmarks they didn't know!! First time I've stumped someone from that source this is getting interesting. They did however confirm it was Danish silver and from 1892. This spoons maker remains a mystery. I've just been busy with college and when I get some free time I'm going to change my browser location settings to Denmark and search around auction sites from that country.
Heres the link to the Danish guys I asked if anyone wants to see what they said.

I was leaning towards a caddy spoon, though i'm not positive.

Haven't checked in lately. Still interested in that Danish spoon. Ever figure out what it was for?
