Is this some kind of badge? I cant figure it out. I found it today while out detecting. If you have any info on this on what it is and age that would be awsome. I found it at a house site that dates back to early 1800's.

looks like part of a suspender clasp from bib overalls.

That looks like the wreath 1/2 of a tongue and wreath sword buckle . Are you In a civil war area ?

Nice old relic! :occasion14:

The item was found in Ohio. It would be wonderful if it is a sword hanger. I really dont think it is a suspender clip though. It is gold plated. If that will help. It is about the size of a half dollar in diameter.

Its not a type of hanger, its similar to the picture above your last post. ie. that is the hasp side of a 2 piece buckle.

Its not military in my opinion, but is late 19th C.

Ok. Well that helps.i found it close to what use to be the Erie Canal. So i dont know. Maybe somebody carried a sword or maybe just their belt.

Probably not even a sword, just a civvy belt fastener.
