average keeper rate

hey everyone, i just wanted to ask what the average keeper rate per $500 box you guys are realizing? my best guess is it is around 1 coin per box if you don't factor in CWRs. Would you agree? After starting with a skunk, I'm just wondering what kind of odds i should expect. thank!

I am 3 full boxes into halves.

Average: 10.66 - 40% / 4 - 90% : 3.0244 oz

Depends where you live and how many crh are in your area. I would say it is all about the luck you are having that week. But the more boxes you do the better the chances are of getting silver. If you get 1 silver coin per box I would say that is good, any more is icing on the cake. Just remember it's a HOBBY, but it sure feels good when you see those silver rims in a stack.

Hokiemojo , Average is not a particularly useful word with regard to CRH-ing , there are just
too many variables in play . If I understand the reason for your question , it is to gain some
information that will help you decide weather or not to engage in this activity . I have observed
over the last six years of regular CRH-ing : that "dream boxes" are rare -but do occur, getting
skunked is a regular and quite normal experience , moderate success (ie 5 or 10 keepers in ,
a box ) is not uncommon , my keeper stats are way better with CWR's than boxes .
I would suggest giving it a try across different denominations for a year or so - chart your
results and let us know if you can establish an "average" of any kind, I cannot - Argentium.

Last year I searched 54 actual boxes, not counting CWR's. Of those 54, I averaged about 1 90% per every 3 boxes.

Thanks guys. This is what I was looking for. I'm surprised by this, but it sounds like penny sorting oculd theoretically be more profitable based on $0.02 copper pennies and averaging $5.00 fac of copper per box. In reality, I guess 1/2s are practically more profitable. I think my trouble may be finding a dump bank for 1/2s. No one has been receptive to taking them and I'm coming up empty on the first 10 banks/credit unions I checked to find fee free coin machines.

I definitely believe cent boxes are more profitable per box. But without buying a ryedale they take more time than half dollar boxes. I average less than 1 keeper per box, but have to look at my stats to say for sure the percentage. I bet I would end up with more silver if I searched cent boxes and sold copper, then bought silver, but I like the thrill of the hunt with halves when I do find one, I wouldn't get that with coppers.

I think about 3 per box halfs

These people posting results on 3 boxes doesnt show a real trend. 3 boxes is nothing compared to some of the people on here. I just started keeping detailed results and have over 100 boxes to show my averages and still wouldnt consider this to be a true trend.

It's basic statistics; a valid average cannot be drawn from 1, 3 or even 20 boxes. Its just too small of a sample size to determine anything conclusive. I don't think stats can be used as an indicator in CRH keepers, it seems to be completely random.
