Haven't magnet tested or weighed it yet (weighing might be futile due to the hole). It rings like 90% silver to me.

Anyone able to visibly authenticate this one? Looks good to me other than being holed and probably improperly cleaned.

Oh, so you purchased it?
You are right on both counts, but if it was dug
and later cleaned, oh well, its a bug hunk of silver!
The obverse was heavily cleaned, as indicated around the hole.
See the straight edge difference in tone there?
The darker tone difference is on most of the reverse.
And the wear of the coin seems right.
You have an authentic (slightly altered) Seated Liberty Half-Dollar!

Awesome guys, thanks! I'm thinking it just looks a little funny in hand because of the harsh cleaning. Didn't even notice the difference in toning around the hole, good eye!

A cool 'Real'Coin IMO.
I kinda like 'Holed' Coins (for the right price of course) I'd love to dig them also , Of course I'd Rather dig an Unaltered Coin.

Any dug Silver works for me , especially "Type"Coins.

The Obverse of your coin ruins it's appeal ' for me' If the Front looked like the back I'd be much happier with the Coin.

All that said ,I'd be glad to own it .

Also 'Lately' I have been more interested in Seated Liberty Halves , I have a Nice 'Raw' 1861 O on Layaway .

Got a Good Deal IMO on a 1877 yesterday.

It's a reamed hole not drilled, probably won't be any difference in weight
