Hello everyone,

Does anyone have any info on the history of Augustine Beach in Port Penn?

On the North East section of the parking lot there is a picnic area with large concrete blocks that are almost covered. Obviously, there used to be a structure there.

I saw someone detecting there about 2 years ago. I didn't have an opportunity to speak with him.

I've found some info on the internet but nothing that describes the history of this beach.

Best,
Brian

Brian,

The concrete blocks are probably left over from WWII gun emplacements to protect the river/bay. There are several up and down the Delaware coast and I plan to hit as many as I can when the weather breaks. The amount of history along Delaware's coast is incredible. All the way back to the 1650's.

Good luck!
Pete
