OCTOBER 17*2013
BY*DAN CANNON

A homeowner in Auburn, AL discovered two men inside of his home around 9pm earlier this month.

The homeowner, who was armed, opened fire on the suspects. One of the suspects was hit by the gunfire, but both managed to escape the resident, even managing to steal some property in the process.

The suspects made off with two Samsung smart phones valued around $600.

Police responded to a call about the incident and began a search of the area.

The two suspects were found in the near vicinity of the crime and one of them was suffering from a non life threatening gunshot wound.

According to*WSFA,

Investigators say Dezdrian Smith, 24 of Atlanta, Ga. and Kentarious J. Barnett, 21, of Opelika are charged on felony warrants for Burglary Third Degree, Theft of Property Second Degree and Fleeing. Smith is also charged with Attempting to Elude.

Smith was treated for his injuries at an area hospital before being released to police, who then arrested him.

This is the 19th defensive gun use*from the state of Alabama that we’ve documented.
