I dug this recently at an old house site. It is a brass identification tag to an old radio. My question is can I find out what model # and year the radio was( they made a lot of different models) by the serial number? The serial cabinet number is R 106926

Thanks for any help.

A few of the popular cabinet makers (for Atwater Kent), as early as 1926, were Pooley Company and Red Lion Cabinet.

This is the product line for 1929 : http://www.antiqueradio.org/ak.htm with this link http://www.antiqueradio.org/art/ak13.jpg stating that on the front of the cabinet is a name plate showing the radio was made by Atwater Kent & another plate on the back of the cabinet showing the cabinet was made by a famous furniture maker. There are also 26 cabinets shown for the 1929 model year.

Unfortunately, I don't think the plate you found will lead you to what year and model # the radio was. It appears you chose a radio model and then what trype cabinet you wanted it installed in. Your plate may, however, lead you to what cabinet maker and type of cabinet it was...

This is the site for Atwater Kent radios with an email address that may help you further : http://www.atwaterkentradio.com/
