My daddy use to tell me if your going to be dumb you got to be tough....today after i showed guzz1 a 14ct gold necklace i found yesterday.....worth in the range of $500,I put it back in my little green Minelab goody pouch..I went out to continue hunting in the surf in front of the red lifeguard stand, when a rogue wave knocked the dickens out of me,as soon as I got my head clear I looked down to see my green Minelab goody bag was torn off me,along with the necklace and about $6 in clad coins...about 6 1/2 hours of hard work WASHED AWAY !.....anyone that finds my little Minelab bag I would appreciate you notifying me,of course the bag and the contents are finders keepers,I am just curious when and if someone finds it....Thanks, Rdi

Did y0u cry right there in public 0r wait until ya g0t h0me ;D

Murph....all I did was sniffle for the 2 hour ride home and feel sad each time i looked at wife's long face for losing her new found necklace......Oh well !!!!! there's always a new day....and new gold to be found...Rdi

Sorry to hear about your misfortune Rdi. If I find it I will get a hold of ya so I can return it to ya . That was a fine looking necklace .. I would have been P.O ed Big time . It was nice to meet ya today Anyway .. Hope to see ya again soon . Guzz1

Well RDI, I won't say anything, but the next time we meet I will offer you a shoulder to weep on.
If I should find your green bag you will surely also get the contents.

I stuff just trash in my pouch. The good stuff goes into a pocket that is difficult for even me to get into.

I'll be going to Siesta this Sunday weather permitting. See you all out there.

RDI, I am sure we must be related to one another. That kind of stuff happens only to me and my family. I hate that for you. 6 plus hours in the surf is work. Hope you find it but you know what chance there is of that. I live about the same distance from the surf as you do. That is a long ride home after something like that.

Take care and I hope old Neptune is through claiming his treasures back from you.

Jim

:'( Ouch, not a good way to start the new year off. I hope one of the 4 of you finds that goodie bag....
Been there and done that, too. It hurts

Thanks to all that showed me sympathy and not telling me how dumb I am,as for pockets which I use when I 'm in shorts/pants,however there are no pockets on my wetsuit...I had my pouch secured with 2 pieces of 2x6 in. heavy duty velcro strips..I neglected to put a quick disconnect buckle from my harness to my pouch and paid the price..new pouch will have 2 buckles for sure!!!!

Guzz1/Newbie1.......Thank you for your offer, you're both fine gentlemen,I also would have made that offer...
Guzz1,I also enjoyed meeting you...perhaps in the near future all the beach/water hunters could get together and hunt as a group on one of your local beaches..... one where we could cook some hot dogs and burgers and finish with a good old fashioned BS session

At risk of sounding paranoid I am not sure if posting on a forum is good way to get help, anyone else could be lurking and get your goodies

gamiller...My intentions of posting was to inform other MDer's of my loss in hopes my loss could be their gain...since I knew I would not be returning to Siesta Key anytime soon...maybe I an naive but I think we should all help each other when we can...Rdi

Sorry about the loss.

No chance it washed in after the wave?

If you couldnt find it right away, sounds like maybe someone on the beach saw it come off and picked it up.

If its got lots of digs still in it, it should give off a strong sound the next time someone goes over it, if its buried.

By the way, is that giant school of fish still hanging out off the beach there? We were down a couple of weeks ago and I couldnt believe how many there were. Had to be a few hundred, about 20' off the shore in betweeen the sand bars.

I was there this morning and I search the area where rdi lost his pouch on Siesta key I came up with nothing. :-\I was hoping it washed a shore, I would have love to been able to return it to you Rdi and I mean that,, I'll keep hunting the area ,I'm there 4 times a week, if I retrieve it you'll be the first to know.. Its a big Yes on the burgers and hotdogs that would be a lot fun. anytime just let me know.. guzz1

Just a suggestion, I put all jewelry finds in a small pelican box that sits in my finders pouch, but it is also tied to my waist belt, a 2 inch wide web belt that has clip buckle and also a saftey catch.

Good luck.........

gold-digger... your school of fish must have be on spring break, didn't see them...
