This is my first post to this site.
Earlier this spring, I was checking out the rocks in the sandy clay beside our man-made pond and found this object sticking out of the dirt. Our state archeologist said it was a prehistoric stylized bannerstone for an atlatl.

I have found other historic stone artifacts and flakes on our property, but nothing as "finished" as this. It has renewed my interest to identify the other I have.
Soon, I will get it together and post photos of my best items.

I wonder if it was painted?

It looks to be the type that was tied on. Cool find and Welcome to T-net:hello:

Also it looks like half of a Waco sinker.

I could be wrong but maybe a Boat Stone I havent seen many

Either a small Boatsone or most likely a Loafstone. Some say they were used as Atl Atl Weights. That is a very nice one.
