I never found many shotgun headstamps until moving to Northern Michigan. A couple years ago i found some rare ones (per internet) and started tossing then in a large jar... which turned into 2 jars. I have grown attached and cannot toss them as I have too much time invested. Or I am a hoarder.

Someone lie to me and tell me this is a good idea. IMG_20170727_140536.jpg

You aren't hoarding until the floor collapses under it.

Sure! I think it's a great idea! :icon_thumright:
Until you turn into me... :o Then you have to start dedicating rooms in your home, the next thing you know your home becomes a museum and then you need to buy another home to actually live in! :icon_scratch:

If you have to ask your a hoarder. LOL I have every coin found in mason jars silver in display cases rings gold and silver. The whole Idea is to enjoy what you do and if there are things you like then keep em . I love railroad items I don't hoard em cause I don't find many but I would. Just gotta deal with the wife YOUR NOT PLANNING ON BRINGING THAT IN THE HOUSE ARE YA H YES I AM LOL

:Your finds can never be considered a hoard. Doesn't match the dictionary. I would consider it a worthy attempt to preserve history that has been recovered after being lost......8-)

Nice way to display old headstamps without having to worry about debris.

If you hoard your finds, well....there are worse things you could be hoarding.....

Your just an unorganized collector. Pick out the ones you want, trade the duplicates for others you want or sell them and buy the ones you want, then organize and display them in a manner that allows you to share your passion with others. I'll bet that would get you permission to detect on more land than you will ever get around to hunting. P.S. - Don't mention silver and gold coins...

New not even close, small collection up to a dozen sealers full.
When the living room starts to look like this, then it's hoarding.

shotgun shell headstamps are the south's answer to the east coast's Coppers, they are everywhere! while not as prolific in some places as the fabled pull tabs and pull rings, they can rival bottle caps in the south. unfortunately, the Coppers are definitely worth a lot more and are sought after by a great many people. It has been rumored that some people in the south actually haul their headstamps up into northern states and scatter them for people up there to find. of course none of this has been officially documented. conclusion, we hope that you find many, many more of them.:icon_thumleft:

Two jars does not equal a hoard. Ask again when you have a hundred jars.

hope a bomb sniffing K-9 never shows at your door--- or some crazed anti- gun Liberal

I feel better after seeing this picture.... Now about my plastic tote bins filled with pull-tabs.

I have found so many headstamps here in Michigan, I just keep tossing them and the other brass in a 5 gallon plastic bucket till it was full and scrapped them. I have kept a few strange ones. I have a 4 gauge from a punt gun and two 8 gauge ones I found last week. I also have a solid brass 10 gauge whole shell.

The lakes and rivers here are loaded with the critters as you probably know.

I have a cousin that actually did that!

Might be hereditary because I just requested my own shed!

I found five today, but they are now deposited in my round oval storage receptacle. I just can't seem to find a place for them. Too much room devoted to other things.

Can someone have too many headstamps?
I don't have as many as you but I am getting there.
They are like little trophies.

I can say that I DO like to find them in the woods - especially when they are concentrated in an area. This obviously means activity in a period of silver coins, wheat pennies, IHPs, pocket knives, etc, etc. The OCD in me brain makes me dig every last one of them up because I want to extract all the possible treasure in that area. :)
