Max,
Thanks for the video ....My AT did the same thing in the woods .....Any stubble or roots that were scrubbed would false like that .....I'll know more and will keep you posted as I just got my machine back from Garrett .... I'll be hitting the beach with it this weekend as it's suppose to be a balmy 35 degree's , and will bring my snow boots to get to the water !!..... It's still a couple of feet deep on the dry sand !!..... Jim

Max, i don't think your going to get much responce about the falsing. Maybe some one on here will say you don't know what your doing ? :dontknow: Maybe someone will say you have to turn your sens to 0 ? :dontknow: :help:

I really likes that GTO. 1967 brings back memories. And about your AT Pro falsing, if you think there is something wrong with it, please call Garrett. They can give you a much better response to your issues about it falsing in the stubble. That stuff is really wicked to work in. I believe that they are closed today. I called to see if the accessory coils are available and got a recording that they were closed because of snow. Texas must have really got a good dump of snow.

Max, about the bird- maybe a hawk or falcon. Dunno. Looks like a bird of prey. http://www.wvu.edu/~exten/infores/pubs/other/birdprey.pdf

On your coil, can you try it after washing off the salt-sand? Having mineralized dirt in a coil cover can really hose up performance, ground balance first. I see you have beach sand on the coil. Moist grass and salt and an electrostatic source can be quite a combination for falsing.

John in E, nice photoshop. What do you do to the people to have that painted look?

JG

thanks for the link on the hawks and.

when i received my At Pro, back in nov.............they did not have any coil covers available yet, nor the 4.5" small coil for them.

i have not checked to see if either are available yet, and if the covers were available i doubt i would buy and use one. i have never been a coil cover kinda guy.........for years i coated my coils with 2 part marine epoxy and then after many posters started posting that they liked spray on bed liner better, i agree and now i use bedliner............wears off faster, but is much easier to apply.

John,
SHARP PICTURE !!..... I had a 64 GTO ( first year ) back in the day ....It was a fun car ..... I was on a first name basis with my local police dept. :laughing7: ...... Jim

Max,
I shoveled an area on my lawn and ground balanced my AT Pro ....I then went on my driveway where there is plenty of rough ice hills and dales ..... I had my sensitivity turned up all the way and I was in "Zero" mode ......I ran the coil over the driveway above the icey area and made sure that I was not hitting any targets ....I then lowered the coil onto the ice and began to sweep back and forth over the rough ice !!.... I was banging into little ice hills, and the coil was vibrating like crazy over the rough ice ....If this thing was gonna false, it would have falsed while I was running over this rough ice ....NADA !!....NOTHING !!.....QUIET !! ....I had to make sure that the machine was even turned on ...... I would NEVER have been able to do this with my AT Pro the way it was before I sent it in !!.... Call Garrett, or email customer service and let them know what you are experiencing .....Talk to Bradley Keel ...He is a wonderful rep for Garrett and will take great care of you ... I really think that this little heater is gonna work out for me now !!.... So far , so good !!....I'll know more when I hit the beach this weekend ......Good Luck with your AT .....Jim

Max,
Coil covers trap mineralized soil and will shut you down and make you curse your machine. Trapped soil can totally ruin ground balancing and performance is in the dirt.
That does not mean they do not serve a purpose, but like you, coatings are preferred here. If you were in the desert a cover would protect from hard rock cuts. Some tape the coil cover gap to prevent any infiltration. The tape cannot collect any soil and has to be applied somewhat carefully. Baby powder works on any sticky tape exposed. Trapped salt water or any water is a problem because of infiltration/contamination of minerals. It happens.

Synthnut:
Pretty sexy outfit you have and glad to hear the unit is working for you. Bottle caps can be ID’d with a little fast coil pumping on the questionable target. Just give it a little jitter. Have a great hunt.
Don't forget the places kids go sledding at.
