AT pro is being shipped tomorrow

It's my first "real" detector I have used the whites Coinmaster and done very well with it but I am excited to get a machine with more depth more tones and more features. Does anyone have any advice or tips for using this new machine? Anything good or bad is appreciated, thanks.

I just got it for christmas and have only used it twice. It seems like a good machine, but it will take a while to get really good with it. The thing i really like about it is theres a broader range of signals. My 250 i used before getting the pro often gave coin hits that were just junk iron, and the at pro from what i have seen so far gives accurate tones every time. Everything that i dug up with it is what the pro read it to be.

That's exactly why I upgraded to this machine. My Coinmaster was a crapshoot as to what you were digging up.

One thing I would suggest is to set up a test bed where you know what the signals are and where. Then, experiment with the different settings until you understand what it is trying to tell you. Make a couple complicated signals as well, different depths, a coin under a nail, alongside also. See how it "talks" to you.

Doing this at home will enhance your ability to tell in the field. While in the field, call your shot. What you think it is and dig everything for a while.

With WHADIFIND on the test bed. A good deep coin will sure help to tell you what you are listening for as well as see if it likes a little positive ground balance. With my T2 it really helped me get a feel for how the VDI performed on a really deep or fringe coin. Will also give you a good indication as to where the sensitivity starts to really affect depth. I have even buried can slaw etc at different depths and was amazed at how the VDI would not give as solid a repeat or lock on the slaw even at moderate depths. Now ya get to go back to some of the old spots and see if ya left much behind. Best of luck.

That brings back a question to mind that I'm still figuring out. I could get the Groundhog ground balanced and could tell what helped. A little positive/negative sometimes does. But, with the AT-Pro I'm still not quite sure how it affects. Mind expanding a bit on what that means and under what circumstances it might come in handy?
