Hi all,

I have an AT Pro, stock coil. Went to a local park that I frequent but in a different spot. Powered the machine up and took a couple practice swings. All normal.

Hit a signal and had a hard time trying to pinpoint it. So I figured I'd step away from it, auto ground balance in a clear spot and come back and try again.

Almost immediately after using the auto GB feature my machine went goofy. Started registering signals all over the place from low teens to high nineties. Turned the thing off and turned it back on. Same thing.

Didn't matter if the coil was on the ground, just off the ground or five feet in the air. Same thing.

Looked around for an electrical box. Nope. Transformer? Nope. Turned it off then back on again...same thing. I have not yet tried factory reset but will do that next. Any other ideas?

Batteries are fresh and not leaking.

Thanks in advance for any helpful suggestions!

If your AT Pro is doing the same thing mine did several years ago, it will sound off like your playing a slot machine and hit it big. Numbers jumping all over the place and all the sounds to go with it. It took me a while to figure out why it was doing that and in my case, it was picking up its own coil wire just a few inches above the coil. Make sure your coil wire is tight around the stem as low as you can go towards the coil itself. Obviously don't force the wire so you damage the attachment to the coil itself but that is how I cured my issue. You should have a piece of Velcro to help achieve this.
And just as you stated, try a factory reset if all else fails. Good luck.

Mc1988, Thanks I'll take a look. You state as low as possible. I read somewhere that it should be high as possible before taking first loop around stem. (I'll look for that post) Anyway, I have it looped high right now. I'll try your suggestion and let you know. This weekend is a honeydo weekend so I probably won't get back to you until next weekend. Slot machine is a perfect analogy!

Mine did that with the NEL Storm coil once. It was the coil cable to tight.

It will also do that if your sensitivity is too high or if there is another detector being operated to close to you. I had it happen on my AT and walked around a tall bush and sure enough another hobbyist on the other side wondering what was happening to their machine

And lastly, EMI from a closed circuit surveillance camera, underground powerline.:skullflag:

Don't forget the directional cell towers now found all over!!

Hey Grease,

Do you have an update on this issue? Mine started doing this yesterday. it is an all stock setup. I noticed on my machine that the battery indicator would fluctuate as well.

Was that happening to yours? How did you end up fixing it?
