At first i thought it was another .22 casing, but now I'm confused....

DSCN8204.JPGDSCN8206.JPGDSCN8207.JPGDSCN8208.JPGDSCN8209.JPGDSCN8212.JPG

Let me start by admitting I'm not a "gun guy". but everything I've ever shot doesn't peel the top of the casing back. And there's no primer. and I find no markings.

So what do I have????? Some kind of powder cartridge/percussion cap?

thanks!

IF !!! this item is copper or brass, it may be a home swagged bullet jacket.. whereby a reloader/ bullet caster swagges (inserts) a lead bullet into a copper or brass cup and sizes it to make the bullet the proper size and makes his own jacketed bullets... the first swagged bullets utilized spent .22 LR cases and the lead was put into them.... I don't see any rifling marks on the outside...it appears that these cups haven't been fired through a weapon... they could be cups that were deformed during the case forming process and discarded.... the pealed back lips of the cup makes me think this is what happened... IMHO if you have a micrometer try measuring the inside & outside diameter of the cups

Its a common half of a rifle bullet, the copper jacket, the other half, lead, has seperated from the jacket. High end bullets are called "Bonded" bullets, the copper jacket and lead core are bonded to each other for maximum depth and energy transfer.

bb.jpgBonded bullet - no separation

Standard bullet- separation as shown in your post

Also you can see rifling marks on your 3rd and 5th picture - its a fired rifle bullet.

The 5th picture I'm pretty sure I can see 2 rifling marks, maybe the OP can verify that's there 5 or 6 rifling marks, if using your 4th picture they will vertical lines running from about 12:30 to 6:30.

Probably some cheap, crap old imported AK-47 ammo - not high quality hunting ammo that would have the tapered "boat tail" design in the back end to help with aerodynamics

Yep looks like it was fired as you can see the rifling marks on the outside of the bullet. HH
