Got back today for 3hrs to the farm I was detecting on Sunday. Yesterday as I was leaving the farmer arrived and started to till the soil for the planting of the 'winter wheat'. When I arrived this morning farmer Earl was already there seeding and leveling the soybean stocks from the fall harvest, this made swinging the coil much easier. Found a lot of brass junk and 'whatsits' which will go to the scrap yard tomorrow! The one and only 'keeper' of the day was a 1904 Edward VII Large Cent, in great condition too except for one 'plow mark'! :tongue3:

Thought it was cool when I found the trigger for an old air rifle, then 5mins later I found the lever action!
:laughing7:

Thanks for looking,
Dave

Hi the Patina on the coin is awesome . Thanks for sharing your site pics tinpan

Great looking LC, too bad for the Leachie plow hit.:laughing7:

Seriously kind soil at the farm, also that's a cool looking lever action from the toy gun.

Great digs, that large cent is in nice shape

Nothing like the site of a freshly plowed field huh!!

That LC is in awesome shape! What's a little scratch gives it character! Nice rifle lever! The two ring thing looks like cuffs, I know it's not, just looks like them. Nice you don't have to fight the field stubble this time you'er getting some interesting stuff from that field.

I see the AT Pro and shovel started with out you again! You sure you're not sitting in a chair under a tree while your AT -Duo do all the hard work? Lol!

I thought maybe the Lesche had scratched it too J, but the scratch has verdigris!
Very nice soil at this site as you said, think this is the third copper I've found here.

When I arrived yesterday I was prepared for a real 'swing challenge' with the bean stocks being 3" high. :-\
Thanks fully Earl made my day a lot easier! :laughing7:

Thanks for your post MsBB! :hello:
The "two ring thing" is a blacksmith-made horse bit, I love finding these they have so much character.
Of course, I guess they could be used as handcuffs in a pinch... but I think my daughter would still be able to escape to go see her boyfriend! :laughing7:

I have my AT well trained now to not start hunting without me, so no worries there!
Thanks for your post BB and good luck to you as our 2014 seasons coming to an end. :sad7:

I've yet to hunt a nice level field Dave. So far this year, I have had to deal with corn stalks that had just been cut and forces you to walk up and down each row individually.
Nice looking LC!

Congrats on the large cent. I love searching old farms and finding horse bits, bridle pieces and old pieces to farm equipment and trying to identify them.

Much better to stab Copper Eddy in the back of the head than someone like Silver Carl.

Wow that coin is gorgeous bud! Another great hunt. You've been doing great lately

Nice looking LC!

This is the first 'flat field' I've hunted this year Dave!
Don't we wish the farmers would cut all their crops this short for us! :laughing7:

Me too Southern Brass!
Just the fact that horses haven't been on these fields for at least 80+ years is kind of exciting... but that's why we do what we do right!

Thanks for your post IP!
Hope you're surviving the Nor'easter that blew through your area on Saturday.
My companies office in Bangor has been without power since Sunday! ???

Thanks very much Abe! :occasion14:
It always amazes me how some coins survive in the dirt while others disintegrate!

Thanks very much Greylock!
I love the horse bit, as well, I have a couple of complete examples now!
