assayers oven

On Monday 01 Sept, I watched an episode of "Gold Prospecting", The Buzzard (Tom Massey Sr.) was making gold buttons by melting his superfines and flour gold. He was using what he called a propane fired assayers oven. It looked like one of the 2 gallon Coleman coolers, small and round. the top was removable and had a large vent hole in the center for maximum air flow. Does anyone know where I can get my hands on one? Thanks, RetRmy

Any of the shops that sell assaying supplies will have them. Try A&B Prospecting Supplies. They have electric and propane furnaces, and all the supplies. They even have starter kits. http://www.abprospecting.com/id6.html

There's also plans on the web, if you'd like to try building your own. Can't recall the exact site though. I think I was looking for plans for a blacksmiths forge & stumbled on it. Sorry I can't be more specific.
