"ASK MARK PARKER" reply

Hello everyone!

Back in December of 2005, I had sent in some items to the Western & Eastern Treasure Magazine, for the "ASK MARK PARKER" column.? I just returned from a trip and found this letter in my mail box. It is a very interesting reply for the information and documentation that I had asked about.

I am quite suprised by what the values of some of the items are, especially the Pope XIII medalion and the Trapshooting medal. Of course, just knowing the fascinating and interesting information is priceless in itself.

Having a few problems with the rest of the pics, as my properties size does not agree with what the limit for posting is. I'll try again later on the other items.

HH and good luck!

Re: "ASK MARK PARKER" reply

Hello!

Thanks for asking and the help with the post on the letter.

Yes, all of these items were dug by me since 2001. The Dairy token was dug in Rosholt, South Dakota back in 2001 at my ex girlfriends new home (it is an old victorian style home from the late 1800's), that she had just purchased and I actually found 3 of them all exactly the same, the Denver Motor Club badge (on the reverse, it is badge #61), was dug in a park in Denver, Colorado in November of 2002, the Liberty Metals medallion was dug in 2002 at a park in Oklahoma City, Rotary Park, the 7th Battery Field Artillery token was dug in Salina, Kansas in 2002, the Trapshooting medal was dug in Mitchell, South Dakota in 2003, the Pope Leo XIII Medallion was dug just a few weeks ago in Salina, Kansas, and the Jap Rose Soap Key fob was dug also in Salina, Kansas in 2002.

I came across a Western and Eastern Treasure magazine a few years ago and thought that I should submit some of these things to the "Ask Mark Parker" column, but finally got around to doing it just last December. I sure am glad that I did from the reply that I got back!

When I started researching the way things looked a long time ago by going to libraries and looking up old city maps, I started finding more stuff like these things once I got orientated to the way it is now to the way it was according to the old maps. That has helped a lot in zeroing in on better places.

Everything was found with my first Explorer XS, except for the Pope Leo XIII Medallion, which I found with one of my new Explorer II's.

I use the Explorer's more than anything else.

Hope that helps.

HH and good luck!
