It IS a very modern replica coin of a ancient chinese cash coin.

The holes are from it adorning a basket for decoration or something... or maybe some hanging thinggy.  Commonly found on sewing baskets and other types or such likes...

The grainy back ground and clear crisp condition is a dead giveaway... often sold in packs with other coins.

Even if authentic (1875 - 1908) it would be worth maybe 2 - 3 US Dollars.

moden copy of an old chinese cash coin the holes as said are for basket hanging use -- the real old coins are thought of a good luck charms by some folks (mainly asains) --- if it was real a few bucks (3 -4) generally at most as just about all cash coins are worth very little despite the often very old age (there are a very few rare ones) as a copy coin & drilled --very little to any cash value sadly as a cash coin luck item its cool.

you buy a ticket and take a chance --- look at the fellow who bought a gold $1worth a couple grand at the pawn shop for about what $50 bucks (scrap gold price basically) --- you never know when an "interesting item" might catch your eye --that could be big bucks to the right person

I paid 1.00 for it... now that I found out it's a copy, I think I paid to much....

I think it was worth the risk

Exactly Jim, I knew some Chinese tokens are worth money ..so I didn't want to pass it up only to find out it wasn't junk....
