I thought it was a Rosette being just shy of 1-3/8”, but it appears to have had a shank.

Late 1700’s dandy button? -I hope so, that would be cool. (But wait for a second opinion)

I agree with NHBenz... the size (about 1&3/8th-inch diameter) of your 1-piece rolled-brass button (missing its brazed-on loop) means it is a "Dandy" button from the late-1700s. (At that time, a "Dandy" meant a fashion-conscious man, noted for wearing fancy clothing, especially coats with these unusually large-diameter buttons.)
