Ran into these in a secondhand store near my town. I know they're not a treasure per se, but they have me scratching my head, and I normally pride myself on my Internet research abilities. Nobody working at the store had any idea what they were, and I just can't figure it out. They had several there in different sizes with Asian characters, a crown logo, and different numbers on the sides. They come apart into two pieces - a bottle portion that rotates and locks into a base portion. Any ideas? Thanks!

I've never seen one like that, but I'm guessing it's for watering chickens.
It would come in handy for watering mine. You can hang those up.

looks like a feeder you would place on the ground, like for chickens

Thank you both. Do you think they are unusual enough that they would have some interest to someone on eBay? They weren't exactly dirt cheap at the secondhand store. I think they varied in price from about two dollars to six dollars a piece depending on the size. I suppose that amount could very well be what they are worth, considering they are just plastic, and I'm not in the business of breaking even when I resell :-). Thanks again.

It reminds me of the floaters used in swimming pools to gradually disperse chemicals.

Judging by the size of it in your hand, I would say it'll hold a quart of water.
It would be better, IMO, if you had one of the larger size to sell as a pair.
Those of us who have chickens, need and use several different sizes.
I would think if you bought them new, from a Feed store, you would pay about $10-12 for the small one, and upwards of $20 for the Larger one.

Somewhere, at some port, in some cargo container, is probably 4 million of them. :BangHead:
Perhaps a manufacturer search, injection molding company, someone like that, may can lead you back to a source.
I wouldn't think there would be a large profit, unless you paint them, make them art, or sell containers loads, at a time.
We used to just put a filled up milk jug of water(with a hole in the side), into an ice cream tub full of water.
Water for all the pigeons, and a few doves....... :laughing7:

Fantastic ID! One search of 'Pigeon Drinker' on eBay and all my questions have been answered! Thanks again to everyone for your contributions. These forums never fail to amaze me.

good design, keeps feet and feces out.

I take care of about 800 pheasants every winter for a shooting preserve, and its impossible to keep the water clean with standard waterers.

Great ID! But I have to know... Did you recognize it from previous experience or did you discover it through research?

Just curious.

I have a friend who is into racing pigeons, it's a highly competitive sport. The Chinese are into it big time. i believe the record price paid for a champion pigeon is 300,000+ euros paid by a Chinese businessman.
