Asbestos?

brand new in the box hunk of junk discriminator 11 i got for twenty bucks!

Took off to go gold prospecting today and instead ended up rock hounding.. I think this is natural or raw asbestos...? Any thoughts?

The second pic looks like it could be asbestos, I can't tell anything from the first pic. Where did you find this? Montana?

Wash your hands and get it out of the house? Things in the dirt isn't all good for us. I am no expert, but that could be dangerous to you.

Six minerals types are defined by the EPA as "asbestos" including those belonging to the serpentine class and those belonging to the amphibole class.
All six asbestos mineral types are known to be human carcinogens. If it is asbestos ,IMO, best to put it in the trash.

That is possibly asbestos. But if you wish to keep this in your collection there are ways of doing so. Just get a air tight clear container. Such as a larger gold vial. Great find.

if it is asbestos --its a long known killer of men --trust me , I've got it in my lungs -- its NOT good to have around.
