Hi all. I have this large print (51" x 41" ) that I purchased at a yard sale several years ago that I have been wanting to get more info on. I posted it on here a few years back and had someone that was going to translate the artist for me but then they never got back to me.Could someone please translate or point me in the right direction to get more info ? I want to list it on ebay or craigslist but I'm worried I'll sell it to cheap.....and Iz just a po man and needs the cash !

Contact this lady here. Whats unique with your painting is the artists signature and mark on the painting, also its of birds and flowers there were only so many that painted these styles. I seriously encourage you to seek this ladies advise. If it turns out to be what it appears to me you may be sitting on something either very valuable or a great cheap copy. Hope this helps

Hope this helps. I also hope you have what I think you have it would be nice. Either way its nice. There have been a lot of copies through the years but the tail is in that block design w the Chinese writing around it. That's the artists mark. Let me know what you find out :)

She must get flooded with requests, as the Chinese Gongbi bird-and-flower painting style is an ancient tradition still going strong, practiced by many many of the Chinese painters, of which these's no shortage amongst it's 1.34 billion people. I hope she responds, as reading the seals and chops (signatures/self approvals) is as such an overwhelming task unless it is of a known artist, and many aren't. Confusing the issue is that Japanese and Korean artist also paint this subject matter in much the same way, and have very similar markings. I do hope it's a good one, but there are plenty out there that will fetch no more than aesthetic value, as the artist can't be determined.

As he stated the style of the birds & flowers go back thousands of years. If its one of the more prominent artists yeah it could easily land in a 5 or 6 figure range even 7 but like he said if its a copy and widely produced not so much
The encouraging part is the artists mark.
