Been hunting a swampy area. So far, I’ve gotten 18 bullets, mainly minie balls and Selma arsenal. Also got a Williams cleaner and an enfield. Also found a shenkl fuse. Today I got half a nose piece of a 100 pound Parrott Shell. Super stoked. It could be the coolest paperweight ever. 3EFFAF85-BF22-4EBD-B064-E27F81FA5F97.webp784E6332-C928-41AE-83E1-AB0C9DCC9245.webp3ED17279-7EAE-4EC5-942C-479E07641681.webp

Hey I lived in a super boring midwest town my whole life until like 100 days ago. I miss it terrible, the detecting is so much easier on so many levels. This is hard work for these relics down here. Places have been hunted ALOT. The woods are crazy thick because winter isn’t a thing here. Not to mention I have to constantly sneak everywhere, close to homes. I don’t like it but I’m willing to do it for my hobby. No I couldn’t find civil war battle sites back home BUT I had no problem find homesites and cellar holes from late 1700s - 1830s. Good luck down here with that! My favorite type of hunting is non existent. I’m working on some field permissions but still up in the air. Never give up, the persistence will always pay off in finds. Me and a buddy will be heading to some projects in the city to hunt next. Oh the changes I’ve made in my hunting! But I need some silver.

I’ve got one of those looks identical. Fuse hole, and all. I bet if we put together every relic hunters collection over the last 40 years we’d have pieces almost identical to one another. I’ve never found any unexploded shells. Here where I live they all blew before hitting the ground, and shot fragments everywhere. I’ve found a ton of fuses. Some that look like they were never blown up.

Congrats on the frag! If there's a piece to find that's it. Nice :icon_thumright:

I guess the old saying the grass is always greener and the finds are always better lol You give me something to think about for sure. Good luck hope you keep finding good relics and some silver my friend Tommy

Wow it's hard to imagine a 100 lb shell being used back then! Congrats on super cool piece of history!
