Artillery Engineers?

Hello,
I just found this old pin near the railroad tracks in Warren Ferry, Virginia. It appears to have had a threaded post on the back which has since broken off. It is made of thick brass or copper, and about quarter size.
Can anyone tell me if this is Civil War era, and if so, Union or Confederate? Also, what the pin signifies--is it artillery engineer or something else?
Thanks!

Its a collar disc, probably WWI era give or take. It would be a Engineers disc.

O.K.--Thanks so much for the info. I was hoping for earlier, but it is what it is!

Well, I'm sure its not Civil War, but I wouldn't take my dating as gospel, although I am pretty sure its 20th century. Still a nice find in my book.

WW1 collar disc. the 'A' signifies 'Company A'
