I have got to get organised. Has anyone used or ever considered the 5 drawer flat file cabinets used for archatectual drawings? Looks like they might be a good idea? It would give you about 18' x almost 3' of total storage 2'' deep.

My friend, it sounds like it would be a great way to store them. Mine are on display in a spare room I can lock, but I no longer have young kids living at home or their friends visiting to worry about anything disappearong........

told ya.sorry mine is now gone.jamey

I already have the spare rooms full of mounted animals :laughing7: Too many hobbys. I was thinking this way I could assign each drawer to types and era. Pipe dream maybe.

Jamie its great seeing you again. This time last year you were finding some killer stuff. I bet new stuff is waiting on you. Did you survive the floods?

Sounds like a great idea to me man, lots of space in those cabinets. I need to get organized meself, I've got frames and artifacts in every room but my bathroom, they're slowly taking over.

Well I have stacks of frames but everytime I want to look at something I have to take the frame apart. I like handling the items and thought this way I could look at an study the stuff. I bet if you opened 3 drawers it would tip.
I thought you kept the morters and pestles in the bath Thirty7 ?? lol

I saw a collection displayed in drawers like one time and it was pretty neat. The guy had lined each drawer with some cloth or felt for the points to lay on and he had them in rows in each shelve.

I just got this table from Pottery Barn. It's a great way to display my finds and have easy access to them. They also have a taller console table. The pieces are from their Townsend collection.

That's an excellent idea TN. I do however like mine in frames on show but, your way one could fondle them more often, as we all love to fondle our flints...
I saw those glass jewelry? cabinets, i quite like those too. They are on show & you have access to them anytime..

Molly.

Hey Tn have you looked into wooden tool boxes? I think the wood would compliment the artifacts better but I don't know about the weight factor or the size they are available in. Check out wooden toolboxes.com.

The storage cabinet used for architectural drawings could still be utilized for your items that are small or flat, but not the bulky ones of course. In the office, we have a similar storage cabinet that we use for our paper work and important contracts, however, it took up a lot of space and we decided to use a smaller version of this but of different orientation (rather than horizontal orientation, it was vertical). We were able to maximize the space and still storage the same amount of paper works (and even better since it is easier to browse through).
