Might be a good area to hunt artifacts in, but that one appears to be just a very cool looking rock. Keep at it... :occasion14:

IMO it looks more creek tumbled than worked, nothing in pictures says artifact to me.

I found hundreds of points in creeks, every single one still had the signs of being worked. If it was found on a beach then the wave action and sand could remove some signs, but a lot harder for creeks and streams to do the same.

To farther derail the thread, aren’t those the lifesavers you can bite and they release a small amount of light?

Also I’d say natural on the other but I will say I’ve found several oddly smooth stones, on the uplands near sites, I still think mine are natural too but they do seem out of place. Considering 90% of the rock near the surface is limestone sandstone or shale. There is a buried river gravel at the top of the landscape though, I’m guessing these have traveled just a bit

Could have been moved and deposited by glacier during last ice age glaciers did make it to Kansas

True for the northern ks but to my knowledge not down here near Oklahoma… not to be difficult haha but not my thread so apologies to the op…

To the op is quartz common in the area? I know you’d never prove it was ever the case but you can’t tell me that the occasional Native American didn’t pick up a cool rock and carry it around some.

I don't think you are being difficult at all by any of means, Was just a thought. Could have gotten there by several means including kids in 1800s, even in the stomachs of some canivore animals.

Unfortunately there is no way to know what rock someone may have carried..

...no pockets...

Unfortunately if it was a scraper it’s so water worn it’s past artifact stage. I’ve found a Pickwick that is so water worn it’s just a shape now.
Yep. I find alot of those in the creek beds. I usually end up leaving them behind.
