I bought this today I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts about it. It’s black glass and sterling silver trim. I have seen smaller ones but this one’s huge in comparison. Probably 12 inches across and 8 inches wide.

I've seen sterling overlaid glass before, but never completely overlaid like that. I wonder where it was made?

It’s both sides too. I didn’t see Mark but again I’ve been Looking at jewelry and stuff all day today I don’t want to look at the loop anymore tonight. This is part of the huge estate I posted about earlier in the week. This was always there I just didn’t know and they decided after having another showing that they just want to get rid of stuff.

It’s a great piece but probably not a lot of silver. Definitely worth more than this over Melt value

I've seen a lot of pieces that were overlayed with silver. Most were a very thin film without any weight. Yours appears to be much thicker.

Rockwell is the company that did the overlay. These pieces were produced by various glass companies and overlaid by another company. If you're interested here is a nice little read... Crystal Ball Article - Silver Overlay I haven't found the maker of your vase yet but I did find a match to it. This sold for $87.26 like 3.5 years ago... https://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-AR...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

Awesome thank you very much. $87 isnt a whole lot. The plating does seem to be pretty thin on it although it’s hard to tell really without chipping a piece off I don’t want to do that. I’ll read up later and see what it says.

I'd list it for $199.99 obo myself, see if it drew any interest and go from there. That price sounds like an auction price versus a BIN price. Auction prices are usually lower than BIN. It appears to be a rare piece, regardless of the overlay pattern. Not to mention it screams Art Deco. Is the overlay marked sterling? Many Rockwell pieces were often signed with an acid etched shield on the bottom.
