Yes it is, Burdie. It is a coin in former "Belgian frank", it is : 50 centimes (1/2 frank). They are very very common and since they are made of copper they "sing like hell" on the detector !!!
The front is a mine worker with his lamp.

Once again you've made some good and interesting finds.I was in Germany for 1 year in the early 90's. I have a quart jar full of Deutsch marks, any idea what a d.mark is worth now. The euro $ was not incepted until the later 90's.

"Out of the head" I would say that you need 2 Deutsche Mark (DM) to have 1 Euro. Not too bad, I think ? And 1 Euro = 1.20 USD...

They are made in copper, Willie. Therefor we find them "all the time", found 2 of them today as well. Pictures will follow, soon...
