Today I stumbled upon a nice black/grey arrowhead where some work was being done by my house in NC. I was wondering if anyone knew what type of arrowhead, what kind of rock, or what time period it comes from. It was a great find for me, & Anyone with any knowledge would be a great help.

Without a base, it's hard to say for sure. My gut says a Palmer which would be Early Archaic and around 9500 to 8500 BP.

That is some pretty material, and a nice find, even with what looks like part of the base missing. I agree it is probably a mid to early archaic piece, and I would not be surprised if it was a Decatur type?
