The same company was embarrassed when a guard left a bag of money from the Revel gambling casino in Atlantic City, N.J., on the roof of an armored truck on Aug. 6, according to news media reports. The bag fell off the roof as the truck was moving, and about $21,000 was lost.
CRANSTON, R.I. — Two occupants of a Garda armored truck were hurt Saturday afternoon when their vehicle rolled over on Route 10 and spilled bags of money.
Passersby swarmed to the accident, according to Deputy Fire Chief Paul L. Valletta Jr., but it was not clear initially whether anyone took money and ran.
“There were bags of it all over the place” when emergency crews arrived, Valletta related. “There were quite a few people here.”
The money that was strewn about was in clear plastic bags and white canvas duffel bags, he said. A second Garda truck was called in, and, as state police watched, the money was transferred to that vehicle.
