✅ SOLVED Armadillo finger ring... gold? copper? interesting hallmark

found a ring at a local school from the 60's, expected it to be a piece of junk costume jewelry until I cleaned it up and did a gold test last night... after suspecting it may be copper I dropped some HCL and nothing happened. I dipped a small section in the same acid and after an hour nothing happened. I still suspect it's copper with gold/brass plating but I saw the hallmark "12" on each section, leading me to wonder if it's 12k or it may just be the model number for assembly.

I fastened a piece of copper wire to the fingertip since it was missing when I found it. Registers as 73-75 range on my AT Pro

its a form of scale / jointed armor for the hand ...

did a follow-up test with my gold kit, confirmed to be copper with brass plating. found a similar one on ebay: 1pc Silvery Spike Armor Knuckle Joint Full Punk Cool Gothic Finger Ring | eBay

also I believe the "12" stamp is the size of the ring, not karat as I had hoped
