Greetings All:
Back in the sixties, I often read a magazine called Argosy. It was pretty cool, a men's adventure mag I think. It often contained treasure stories. I recall a couple of them in particular (though there were many - in fact, I wish I could find back issues as it is now defunct).
During the early years of WWII the Germans sent an invasion force towards Norway. It was disguised as a group of merchant ships. The British knew better (guess the ships were riding too low or something). They attacked and sank the merchant vessels. In Argosy, divers explored the hulks. Inside were all sorts of weapons, munitions, even the skeletons of horses in stalls.
Again, during the early years of WWII, a German warship with a load of gold bullion tried to run the straight between Denmark and Norway (?). It was sunk by torpedoes.
Anybody ever hear of the above?
