Close examination of the photo seems to show that the edges of two of them have the distinctive crumbly corrosion of excavated pewter. If that is correct... maybe I'm ignorantly unaware, but I haven't heard of pewter tacks. So I think those two are most likely pewter buttons from sometime before the second half of the 1700s, with all but the stub of the thread-loop gone.

I have very little hands on experience with pewter so I will defer to your assessment of the items in question.

Crumbly pewter buttons.
love the dimpled example, the center one shows popular floral/starburst, third looks to have lost its pimple.
Any of these found should be examined carefully, the finding of my 'first' USA Continental Army button led me to take a closer look at previously recovered pewters, my first USA was actually my third. Think sidelighting.
