It's been a long time since i have posted anything but I do visit often. I recently had to go to the Philippines for my job and bought these coins while I was there. I don't know if they are real or not since I am not that knowledgeable on coins. If they aren't no bigg loss, I only paid $30.00 bucks for them but they look so cool I had to have them. If anyone knows let me know. I checked PGS but couldn't really tell there were so few pictures of the coins. Thanks for taking the time to look and sharing any knowlege you may have on them. My guess is they aren't. I just looked at the 1804 and from what PGS has ite worth a boatload. LOL! I can only wish it is.

The worse thing you can do.

No, that's second, first is beating them with a hammer. :D

Actually, THAT's second. First is melting them into bullets and firing them out of a gun at Vampires. :D

You mean Werewolves! ;D ;D ;D You have to stick a Vampyre through the heart with a stake made of Ash!

More than likely reproductions, or "fantasy" coins. they are being sold in the US at flea markets and various other places, some stating what they are, sometimes not. Try taking a magnet to them, see if they stick.

I agree that these are some type of fake or fantasy coins. If that 1804 silver dollar were real it would be worth a million dollars....at least. I still consider them interesting items though.

I have a friend in Riverside that paid 75 buck for two sets. I had already seen a post from someone who lives in Long Beach who had purchased a set too.

My friend thought the coins he purchases were authentic. So when I told him the news ,I went easy on him. I told him to pass his ML SE over a coin, and when he did the machine hardly gave off a sound, even when he passed them over the whole coin album.

They are sold as souvenirs or keepsake coins. That’s why the people who sell them can’t be charged with counterfeiting or fraud. Remember, we never get something for nothing. I’ve never seen an Indian head coin that big, it’s as a silver dollar coin. That should have immediately given it away. These kinds of folks feed on our natural instinct for greed. If I had the money I might have fell for it too.

HH and thanks for sharing.

there are a lot of fakes sold on sidewalks(by a chinese) but they can be easily spotted.I have a morgan dollar and US-Phil coins dated 1907s ,1908s,and 1904s.They are about the size of morgan dollars(of course, not fake as I dont keep fakes!!)

Most fake coins sold are morgan dollars and other US old coins thought to be valuable.A Chinese(doesn't even speak our native tongue or a little english) here selling fake coins are not approached by authorities.I dont know why ::)

Howdy all,

Sorry for not getting back sooner. I had some things going on that required my attention. I retired from the Air Force after 24 years and am now working in Kuwait. As for the coins, they are indeed fake. All I had to do was apply a magnet to them and it stuck. Of course the rust that developed on them kind of gave me a clue. LOL! Oh weell, I still like them and I will keep them to remind me that a thing as simple as a maganet in your pocket can save you $30.00 in the Philippines. ;D

take a strong magnet and if they attract to the magnet then you know they are not silver as if they are real they would be silver. and also look up real ones and check the size and weight compared to what you have. that is how I do a quick check. I almost bought some 3 weeks ago but the magnet told the story and I saved my money.

You guys need to read the whole post and you would see that they have already been solved as fake. They didn't pass the magnet test. Reply #32
