Are the earlier US LC's thicker than later ones?

A friend and myself found 5 LC's in a field, we could get the dates off of 4 of the 5, the 1820's - 40's, but the one we could not it's probably 1.5 times the thickness of the others, same diameter, or could it be a British coin?

Thanks.....

The 1837-57 Braided Hair cents were slightly smaller in diameter but the same weight as the Coronet series, so, a tad thicker, but, not 1.5 times thicker. Are there any features on the questionable coin? Maybe a photo of both sides?

My friend found the smooth fat one, its in his truck, I will post some pictures of it within a few days.

The earlier ones are thicker, I think up through 1795 or so.

They were made all throughout the 1790s and into the 1800s. All the ones from the 1790s are rare except for the one from 1799.

I can't remember any detail but I may be missing something obvious....his house is on my way home from work, I'll try and stop there tomorrow for some pics.
