Notices of Discovery are to be found in the "Register of New York Gold and Silver Mines" in the State Archives within the State Education Department on the eleventh floor. The department has been likened to entering "a maximum security prison". Bring iron-clad ID, no personal items, and have read a list of 25 strictly enforced rules, etc. Sounds like New York doesn't it? All of the documents that you might need are there in one place. Maybe one day they'll digitize the whole thing, but don't hold your breath.

There are no legitimate gold mines in New York, none. The only gold ever found in New York, was brought down in glaciers from Canada. That hasn't stopped people from selling "gold and silver" mines in New York.

Check out the New York State Geologist reports.
