Archaeologists Think Theyve Found Long-Lost Steamboat

Re: Archaeologists Think They've Found Long-Lost Steamboat

Nice article, Tom. According to the article, the headline is in error. The archies didn't find it. It should be renamed Amatuer Historian Dan Smith Thinks He's Found Long-Lost Steamboat. That's how most wrecks are found.

Re: Archaeologists Think They've Found Long-Lost Steamboat

Your absolutely correct Darren! But the Archies will always grab the credit, and the booty if we let them.

Re: Archaeologists Think They've Found Long-Lost Steamboat

not surprized -- locals often have to "gift wrap" finds for the archies -- nothing new about that .
note it's the "don't call us treasure hunter's " bunch from st augustine (lamp) on the job, swiping all the credit and glory .

Re: Archaeologists Think They've Found Long-Lost Steamboat

Before we get too far in archie-bashing, I'm confident that it was the writer/reporter at WTLV who created the headline, not LAMP. Let's give the critique where due. I assume it attracts more readers/watchers to include archies in the headline vs. just Mr. Smith.

It wouldn't be the first time I've been called that ;D

I do think it's cool that the Alligator may have been found. It's a ironic twist that the boat that transported a late 1800s archie became an archaeological site itself. Watch the video if you get a chance.

Re: Archaeologists Think They've Found Long-Lost Steamboat

true the tv crew set it up -- but most folks who are watching the news don't care whos face is there only "what was found" -- as far as the who found it , they often could careless --its the what they found ---TREASURE VESSEL? and can I get a bit that interest them--if not then forget about it most say.
