"ARCHAEOLOGISTS GET IT WRONG AT THE FOK SING BRICK KILN"

Hi all ;D ;D ;D.The local archaeological dig at the Site of Fok Sing and Co. brick kiln and the research done is all wrong and they have changed the history and the name of the location and distances and made a whole lot of statements that are not true.First heres one of of the public press releases and even this short statement is wrong.

QUOTE Archaeology

An archaeologist is a history-detective,relying on the debris of human life for clues to reconstruct the past.Excavation is based on the commonsence priniciples of observation and carefull recording, to produce a sequence of evidence that charts the development of the site.

The 2005 excavation at "Ironbark" yielded information not just about the brick kiln, but also about the market garden that came after. It was a very modest project and to learn the full story of the kiln and the people associated with it,a more comprehensive excavation would be required.

it was luckly for the archaeologists of 2005 that the sluicing nozzle of 1912 that blasted away gold-bearing creek deposits below the market garden was not directed on the site of the brick kiln.

First the chinese camp and the kiln are located at a place called Emu point White Hills and this area in past and now was never Ironbark.Ironbark is located 4 miles away and the pic of the map i,m going to show clearly shows is.The pin maker on the bottom of the pick is Ironbark and the Pin on the top of the map is camp and kiln site. You can read the names off the map for yourself. What a Joke. >:( >:( >:(

The second photo shows the site and the black plastic is the location of the kiln found. The photo clearly shows the trees line of the creek some 200 yards away. The sluicing nozzle of 1912 would have never had any affect on the kiln. The kiln is buried in the enblankment been low the road and part of it under the road and a 1904 electric tram system operates to this day on the road.So there was no way there was ever any chance that sluicing of 1912 would have ever come close to the road.In the second pic of the site you can clearly see the cable supports of the over-head tram wires.

The tram system is heritage listed and the tracks will never be removed for anyreason so there will not be any other excavations at this site.
Here the webb site Gypsy found on the whole story.

In this article the archaeologists say much of the history is gone and it makes it hard to determine at the facts and numbers. Now thats even funny. The records of all people entering Cololonies was recorded by the british. In the article they say " that the chinese walked 1000 kms from Robe in the South Australia to Bendigo. The distance is not any where that far more rubbish. ;D ;D ;D.The archaeologist believe that only a thousand chinese lived in this camp based on a report of 1856.Yet the White Hills Graveyard clearly has records of about a thousand buried there alone.16,000 chinese landed at Robe alone. They forgot the mention the many other ports used .There a few pics of the site and map of the area. This seems like a real bad taste joke to me.

Re: "ARCHAEOLOGISTS GET IT WRONG AT THE FOK SING BRICK KILN"

Hey, Tin—

I know what you mean. Years ago, when I learned that an old building in my hometown was being restored as a National Historic Site, I gave the committee the original architectural drawings for it, which I had found hidden in the rafters of a house when I was a boy. They took them from me as if I'd stolen them, never thanked me or offered to return them, and worst of all, completely ignored them when they "restored" the building: no two-level floor, no parquet woodwork, different decorative trim, etc. Later, when I asked why, they told me, "We feel certain that these are changes which the architect would have made." In other words, they did exactly what they wanted to, totally ignoring the architects's own carefully drawn plans.

There is also a legend that the building is haunted, and guides eagerly relate the ghost story to gullible visitors. Nobody ever heard a word about any ghosts there for nearly a hundred years, until it was opened to tourists. 'Nuff said!

Well,

I'm an archaeologist and here's what I say..... Wait until they publish what they are going to... and then publish your proof and make fools of them. If they deserve it, so be it.

Hey PBK,

What's that old saying? Oh yes, disclose nothing to anyone especially them folks
that would do no good to any cause other than their own. :)

Close to the chest with any information but if you must, certainly do not give up originals, hand over a copy.

I know that only too well, Kd8hf, but made an exception in this case at the request of a close personal friend who was involved with the project at that time. I really had no interest in keeping the plans anyway, but had always hoped that they might someday be placed on display at an area library or museum. Unfortunately, they disappeared when the project ended, and I assume that they left town along with the restoration "experts" who oversaw it. I lost nothing, really—but my town got cheated both in the way the restoration was handled, and in the loss of the historical documents.

But enough about that. Tinpan, my apologies... I didn't mean to hijack your thread. Let's get back to the kiln!

Hi all, this gets even better.i went to the kiln exhibition a few weeks ago and here a pic of some of finds that clearly show and are mark to be from 1880 on wards. The archeologists have these items in their exhibition also and are clearly claimed to be a lot older than they are.All the larger bottles are clearly marked with a M or A.G.M which proves that they from 1880 on wards
