They are forecasting heavy rain tonight, so I went for a walk of a couple of hours on the Viking field this evening.
The field is standing with smal low corn crops now, and it wont be long till no search is possible anymore.
I discovered the field in 2008 and it contains a Viking trading marked at the sea. It was excavated on a small area in autumn 2009.
The field still gives finds, but there are now much longer between them. It could need to be plowed again. That will be next autumn then.
The evening gave 3 lead weights, a piece of trading silver and this very well preserved half Arab Dirhem.
These Dirhems were imported from Bysanz via the russian rivers to the Baltic Sea in the Viking Age and used for their silver value. They were cut in halfs, quarters etc, and weighed out with lead and bronze trading weights.
