Recently, I've been sifting topsoil in my back yard to screen out refuse, stones and nice relics. I've found a bunch of marbles, two or three of them clay, many bottles and two or three wheat pennies. One piece that intrigues me, and which I cannot figure out, is this aqua glass item. It's about two inches tall and slightly less than that at its widest diameter. There are no identifying numbers or letters that I can see, and the side has a "key" (for lack of a better word) that probably helped to keep whatever this is in place. Help!

Correct .. It is a lightning rod insulator.
Thanks; I found a nice website with some pretty insulators. Apparently, they predate regular insulators. Now we need to know a rough age!
