Took Friday off and it rained all day. Saturday started off wet and it finally stopped about 3:00. I managed to get a couple hours in at a mid 1800s cellar hole (if you can call it that) since its just a flat spot dug into the side of a hill in the woods. I had been here once before, but it was pretty overgrown the first time. Conditions were better this time. I had already dug a few odds and ends, including the first coin from this site, a badly worn large cent. I was planning to leave soon when I got a strong signal under a spill of flat stones on the hillside. I started removing stones and stuck my pin pointer in the hole I had made and heard the hollow sound of the pin pointer hitting sheet brass. Expecting a piece of junk sheet brass, I was pleasantly surprised to pull this out.................
A nice civilian powder flask. A little smashed, but both sides intact with a dog and a pheasant surrounded by scrollwork.
The rest of the finds - one piece convex flower button, large cent, spoon pieces, sash buckle, harmonica reed, etc
