Anywhere to pan near Madison, WI?

I've found silver and gold close to Minnesota Wisconsin border. Hope that helps!
 

Black earth creek near cross plains WI is right outside Madison apparently had placer gold according to wisconsinprospectors.com I am from WI just getting into panning/sluicing and am definitely going to try there! I haven't yet so I'm sorry IDK how good it is, let me know if you go there though!
 

Not a flake.

I've lived here all my life and am a geology nut. I've searched gravel pits for all sorts of rocks, and I've seen literally quarter sections of land scraped and rained on, and dug to the bottom of underground streams, and nary an interesting rock, much less flake of gold. Nor heard of any being found.

Sorry.

Best chance for gold is in retreating snow piles, lost during the winter.

I would try panning any creek in your area thats what I did and I found gold within the twin cities. gold is where you find it! So look for smaller creeks with good flow and dig behind larger rocks. If all else fails travel to nugget lake county park in pierce county I know there is gold there for sure but I read that all streams in wisconsin should contain glacial gold. Doesn't hurt to try.
 

Closest I know of is Denver, Colo. (just pulling your leg.) TTC

That's exactly what I did. And anyone that says there is no gold near Madison is wrong. Found gold in the first scoop. Here's a pic of what I have found so far. About 3 grams.

I second that one Northern Wisconsin or Minnesota has gold. If you aren't a believer check out "MN DNR Gold" they just did a recent survey and found gold. There's gold in both Wisconsin and Minnesota however you have to smarter then the average bear because it won't just into your pan!

hi if you could help me out i would like that im up in wis. looking for gold and i was just wondering if you could tell me where i could go to pan for gold i've been in AL. and found some but not much i was there for a week and got 0.030 grams so any typ of help that you can give me thank you
 

I live in Milwaukee and am currently on short term disability. Anyone local wanna meet up.n sluice or pan. I have a custom sluice w hog matting. The latest n greatest gold capturing mat. Madison is only about n hr ride. I usually go to nugget lake but that's too far for a day trip. If anyone is interested just PM me and we can hopefully get together. Seb are u still active on the forum? U have a nice pan. Wish it was a little clearer. I not looking for ppl to take and show me your hot spot. Just is always nice to have a fellow prospector to go with cuz it's nice to see and learn some new tricks. I'm open to trying anywhere we can legally dig. I've only gone to two places for gold. Both are 4 hrs away which is a long haul. I found a spec in the root river but too many scoops to make it worth while. Well gotta get searching for spots to check. Look forward to chatting with u prospectors in the future
 

I have been to nugget lake park in Pierce co. A little too city looking, too many signs on posts to think there would be gold but they got some and I found a couple small flakes. I have also found small flacks in Marathon co., and elsewhere, but nugget lake is a great place to start 'cause you already know what creek, or river, to look in.

WI gold is very small, not at all like the gold I have bought as paydirt. That nugget lake seemed to have heavy white sand in with the dark heavies.
